Collection methods:

Peptic ulcers are a common condition that affects many people. The main cause of peptic ulcers is the bacterium Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). With our H. pylori test, you can find out if you have antibodies against Helicobacter pylori in your stool.

Alongside testing for H. pylori, if you’re experiencing stomach discomfort, our SIBO Test might also be beneficial to consider, as symptoms like abdominal pain can also stem from conditions such as SIBO.

What is are measured in the H. pylori test?

Peptic ulcers and H. pylori

Peptic ulcers, often caused by the bacterium H. pylori, reside in the stomach's mucous lining and can vary in symptoms. Importantly, many people with an H. pylori infection do not show symptoms. It's common to contract this bacterium in early childhood and carry it unnoticed throughout life. Helicobacter pylori infection can lead to gastritis and duodenal ulcers of varying severity. Although rare, it may progress to stomach cancer.

What's included in the test kit?

  • Test cassette
  • Sample collection tube with extraction buffer
  • Stool collection paper

Storage

Store the product at room temperature or in the refrigerator (2-30 °C). The test is stable until the expiration date printed on the sealed pouch. The test must be kept in the sealed pouch until used. Do not use the test after the expiration date.

How is the test performed?

  1. Thoroughly wash hands with soap and rinse with clean water.
  2. Collect the stool sample: Use the stool paper and make sure to avoid contaminating the sample. Be careful not to let the sample or the side of the paper containing the sample come into contact with any contaminated objects, including the toilet.
  3. Prepare the stool sample: Unscrew the cap of the sample collection tube and randomly insert the sample collection applicator into the stool sample in at least three different places. Do not scoop up the stool sample. Then screw the cap back onto the sample collection tube and shake it vigorously to mix the sample with the extraction buffer.
  4. Ensure that the test cassette pouch is at room temperature before opening it. Take out the test cassette from the foil pouch and use it as soon as possible. The best results are obtained if the test is performed immediately after opening the foil pouch.
  5. Open the cap of the sample collection tube and break off the tip. Turn the tube upside down and transfer 2 full drops of the sample to the sample well (S) on the test cassette. Then start the timer. Avoid getting air bubbles in the sample well (S).
  6. Read the result after 10 minutes. Do not read the result after 20 minutes.

The home test was straightforward with easy to follow instructions. The test result was detailed and clear in its presentation. Also had the opportunity to ask questions about the test result.

We looked at a lot of companies offering the same services but made the decision to go forward with get tested because the labs are based here in the UK. The process has been very straight forward.

There are other providers out there, I have tried 3. Gettested was the fastest and the customer service was the best. I even received my test on the day of purchase delivered by a motorbike courier.
